Campground Reviews
Dark Sky RV Campground / Stargazer's Paradise
As the name suggests, this place is amazing for stargazing. It’s a certified Dark Sky Park. The sites are spread out for privacy and to minimize light pollution. Facilities are modern and spotless. The owners are passionate about astronomy and host star parties. An unforgettable experience.
Gulf State Park Campground / Huge Park with Great Bike Trails
This place is massive! The bike trails are the real star here, you can ride for miles all the way to the beach. The sites are paved and spacious. The only downside is the mosquitos can be intense, so bring bug spray!
Ocean Mesa at El Capitan / Absolutely Stunning Ocean Views!
One of the best RV parks we’ve ever stayed at. The views of the Pacific are breathtaking, especially at sunset. The sites are spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The pool and spa area are fantastic. A bit pricey, but worth every penny for the experience.
Ocean View Campground / Great Views, Tight Squeeze
The view of the ocean from our site was spectacular. However, the sites are very close together and navigating our 40-foot motorhome was a challenge. The amenities are a bit dated. Good for smaller rigs, but I wouldn’t recommend it for big rigs.
Hill Country Winery (Boondockers Welcome) / Wonderful Overnight Stay!
We stayed overnight through Boondockers Welcome and it was perfect. We had a lovely, quiet spot next to the vineyard. The hosts were so welcoming and the wine was delicious. A fantastic and unique experience we highly recommend.
Shady Pines RV Lot / Avoid at all costs!
The website photos must be 20 years old. The sites were unlevel, the power pedestal was faulty, and the ‘wifi’ was non-existent. The permanent residents were not friendly. We booked for a week and left after one night. Never again.
Jellystone Park Luray / Fantastic Family Fun!
We had an amazing time here with the kids. The water park is incredible, and the sites are spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and there were activities all day long. We will definitely be back next year!
Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground / Disney Magic Comes at a Price
It’s an amazing experience to camp right in the middle of Disney World. The transportation is fantastic, and the theming is top-notch. It’s incredibly expensive, though, and the sites can feel a bit close together for the price. Still, a must-do for any Disney-loving RVer.
Albuquerque KOA Journey / Solid, Reliable Stopover
A very clean and well-maintained KOA. The staff was exceptionally friendly and guided us to our site. It’s right off the highway, so there’s some road noise, but it’s perfect for an overnight or a few days exploring the city. The dog park was a nice bonus.
Zion River Resort / Great Basecamp for Zion National Park
You can’t beat the location for visiting Zion. The park shuttle stops right at the resort which is incredibly convenient. The sites are a bit close together, but the river access is lovely. Staff was super friendly and helpful. WiFi was spotty, which is expected given the location.
Custer State Park - Sylvan Lake Campground / Nature at its Finest
No hookups, but who needs them with views like this? Sylvan Lake is stunning, and the access to hiking trails is unbeatable. The sites are well-spaced and surrounded by trees. A true camping experience. Just be aware of the tunnel sizes on the Needles Highway!
Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground / Perfect Basecamp for Zion National Park
You can’t beat the location, just minutes from the entrance to Zion. The park itself is immaculate, with beautiful landscaping and a lovely river running through it. The pull-thru sites were perfectly level. A bit pricey, but worth it for the convenience and quality.
Headed West RV Park / Just a dusty parking lot
We just needed a place to stop for the night and this was it. It’s basically a gravel lot with hookups. Lots of road noise from the highway. Functional for an overnight, but I wouldn’t want to stay any longer. The owner was nice enough, but the facilities are non-existent.
Tiger Run Resort / Luxury RVing in the Rockies
This is a top-tier RV resort. The sites are privately owned, so the quality is exceptional. Great clubhouse with an indoor pool, hot tubs, and a game room. It’s perfectly situated between Breckenridge and Frisco. The Blue River runs right through the property.
